The Ski & Snowboard Responsibility Code -Who’s Responsibility Is It?
Your Responsibility Code, presented by the stars from The Secret Life of Pets
~ Sweetpea loves keeping kids safe ~
We love teaching children & families all about our world! Since we are an approachable and public face to your children, we thought it was time to share what we know about safety, fun, inclusion, and health in snow sports.
It all starts with Your Responsibility Code!
~ Snowball knows how to unlock Your Responsibility Code ~
For starters, Your Responsibility Code assists patrol and ski & board instructors as they care for your kids in the snowy outdoors.
BUT it also equips:
families having fun on vacation
schools & teachers learning new skills on and off the ski slopes.
guides all skiers and snowboarders on how to use their equipment correctly
assists other professionals facilitating outdoor risk management training for ski & board instructors
~ Leonard likes to party safely on the slopes ~
We can’t have any fun outdoors unless the parents take us. Thank you mom and dad for studying all 7 parts of Your Responsibility Code.
We made you a special printable badge for you and your kids at the end of this presentation!
Always stay in CONTROL
People ahead of you have the RIGHT-OF-WAY
Stop in a SAFE PLACE for you and others
Before starting downhill or merging, LOOK UPHILL AND YIELD
Use DEVICES to help prevent runaway equipment
Observe and obey all posted SIGNS AND WARNINGS
Know how to use LIFTS safely
~ Pops knows there is skiing & snowboarding fun for all types of people on the slopes ~
And did you know that skiing and boarding is for everyone?! Follow this link to learn more about Adaptive Skiing & Snowboarding and this awesome equipment for kids and adults.
AND be sure to check with your local mountain or the ski resort you’re vacationing to ahead of time for:
adaptive equipment needs to be reserved before you reach your destination
adaptive coaches that are certified to teach adaptive lessons AND operate this adaptive equipment. Be sure to reserve both ahead of time.
more information that your reservation team may need to know like the specific needs of your child, their limited leg or torso movement, ability to comunicate with instructor, their age, name, and weight.
~ Buddy knows that coaches work hard with our kids on and off the snow ~
Lastly, do you know how awesome your ski and snowboard coaches are?! Don’t forget to tell them the next time you take a lesson!
They actually have some pretty amazing super powers like:
ski or boarding all day and eating granola bars for lunch on the go
teaching lessons in a blizzard
navigating large groups of children over a thousand acres at a time
managing a lesson with at least one crying child or one bully sliding on snow
knowing that your children’s appendages get cold sooner than theirs
getting out of a rain storm before it hits and teaching a lesson in doors
super human radar that tracks down a child who was separated from the group
~ Tattoo reminds us that even safety rules can be fun ~
Above all else, have fun as a family and watch everyone engage with mutual feelings of inclusion.
Because the best way to engage your kids NO MATTER WHAT AGE, is to MAKE SAFETY FUN:
spontaneous quiz time on the chairlift
reward correct answers with their choice of next ski run
make sure to include mom or dad in the silly chairlift quiz
to help kids feel “included in the pack”, point out from chairlift above, examples of those using Your Responsibility Code to
